But to football people, the Big East may have been considered a mid-major conference. Growing up, most people didnt consider any conference that didnt sponsor football as 'major'. Not saying thats right or wrong--but that attitude is pretty common. That must be a Texas thing, because even in the heart of ACC country no one dared considered the Big East anything other than a major basketball conference.
